Jun 23, 2009 - I think its pretty obvious to most MA that this is beginners sparring i.e. non-contact. The speed, the strength, the gear,the ring... gives it all away. Can't go fast or hit strongly because its not allowed. gear is also made for non-contact. If you buy that gear from Century or whomever it clearly states its for non-contact. Trust me, it provides no protection whatsoever.Key thing for beg, is to learn spacing, footwork, timing, etc....about control, not about KO's. thats later on

Nov 4, 2009 - ok, this is obviously a beginner match, just as cmaapol states, but its not kickboxing, because you can see how they try to use deflections (i.e. what looks like a catfight) in order to have an opening, whereas kickboxing may try for an opening but even if they dont hit one, it still hurts like hell. This may not be "kung fu" but it definately is a chineese/japaneese art.
